PIN-UP PICNIC

This past Saturday, I went to Milliken Park with one of my best friends, Jiali.

We were planning for a picnic, but of course sometimes plans don't turn out exactly the way we envisioned them. 

Instead of a towel to sit on, she bought newspapers with her. And then when we arrived at the park she forgot them in the car.

So we sat on the grass in the shade and shared snacks that we each bought. 

Then we spoke about Japanese entertainment culture, as I recently became interested in it again. 

Lastly, which was one of the bigger reasons I wanted to go to the park, we shot photos that you just saw.

BLUE VELVET

I made a flower crown a while back. More specifically during the NHL playoffs. 

I get too excited when I watch hockey so I needed some distraction.

What a juxtaposition, hockey and DIY-ing a floral crown.

I had a hard time pairing this crown with something because it's already so outrageously colourful. 

So I thought, flowers = warm coloured, blue = cold colour.

Hence we arrived with this ensemble. 

Just like Lana Del Rey's song.

"She wore blue velvet."

POST KARAOKE SING-OFF

I had a meet-up with my best friends recently. 

I made pasta for them, they ate at my place, and later, we went, of course, to a karaoke.

The four of us bonded through music all throughout high school. We were all in choir together. A couple were in the orchestra, band, and the symphony orchestra. 

But we all sang together.

So that was how we bonded.

I named us "The Quartet".

Don't judge me. I've had enough judgements already recently.

ROSY GOES TO THE DISCO

Didn't realize, but am actually wearing a lot of red recently. 

It is, after all, my favourite colour. 

Red is such a vibrant colour and eye-catcher. So when I feel like dressing it up a notch, I usually go for the colour.

The checked pattern of the dress is very old Shanghai to me, reminding me of the cheongsam - the traditional body-hugging dress for women in China. 

Since the colour is of a warm colour, I had cold coloured accessories to contrast it.

I'm proud to say that my whole outfit is thrifted, possibly, from GoodWill.

Red usually goes well with gold-toned accessories.

However, because of the heavy black print on this dress, I found that silver jewelry actually went better with the whole look, and not overpower the dress.
